Frank Denton-Powell

90th

Chairman RAFHAA

I trained as a Sooty with the 90th Entry 1958-61. Tours at Cranwell (ASF) on Chipmunk and Jet Provost, 32 Sqn Canberras (Akrotiri), Lyneham and Brize Norton (Britannias) followed before becoming a Team Chief on Harriers at RAF Wildenrath. A year as Crew Chief on the CinC Germany's Andover (60 Sqn) followed. Following commissioning, I ran the line at MDA RAF Leeming followed by a spell at 4 SofTT St Athan. 7 Years on Jaguar followed with tours at APS Abingdon and MOD Air Eng 24. Promoted to Wg Cdr in 1987, I worked in the Saudi Project Office (Al Yamamah), as was OC MOD DSGT at Abingdon before becoming Chairman of the MOD Tender Board for NDT equipment. Retiring in 1992, I started my own ceramics inport/export business at Milton Park, Abingdon. In 2007, I retired for a second time, selling up the business that had developed into a company employing over 40 staff. I moved to Cebu Philippines to be with my third wife Janice where we developed a pig farm specialising in high quality gilts. I now live in Newbury with Janice and our young son who was born in 2018. I play duplicate Bridge in local and national tournaments besides spending a lot of time on RAFHAA business.

Over the years, I have come into contact with dozens of ex-apprentices in all parts of the world. Please use this new Forum to make contact.
